Why Learn Welsh?
All children in schools in Wales either speak or learn Welsh.
Over 562,000 people in Wales speak Welsh.
All public sector organisations in Wales are legally bound to provide services in both Welsh and English.
Having two languages and a sense of Welsh history and culture gives Wales a unique selling point, which offers a competitive advantage to organisations in all sorts of sectors.
Bilingual people tend to be more attuned to languages, more linguistically prepared to learn a new language.
Learning a few Welsh words can increase your sense of awareness of what is around you. Understanding the names of streets and place names in Cardiff and other parts of Wales and discovering the reasons behind them can be extremely interesting.
Learning a few Welsh words and phrases provides the opportunity to experience two different cultures and strengthen the sense of “belonging” to Wales.
There is an increasing demand for Welsh speakers in the workplace.

Pam dysgu Cymraeg?
Mae pob plentyn yng Nghymru yn dysgu neu yn siarad Cymraeg.
Mae dros 562,000 o bobl yng Nghymru yn siarad Cymraeg.
Yn unol â'r Ddeddf Iaith, mae’n orfodol i’r holl gyrff cyhoeddus yng Nghymru ddarparu gwasanaethau yn Gymraeg a Saesneg.
Mae dwyieithogrwydd yn bwynt gwerthu unigryw. Mae dwy iaith a synnwyr o hanes a diwylliant Cymreig yn rhoi Cymru mewn sefyllfa gref.
Mae traddodiad ymchwil Ewropeaidd ar dwf sy’n dangos bod pobl ddwyieithog yn tueddu i fod yn fwy cymwys yn ieithyddol wrth fynd ati i ddysgu trydedd iaith.
Gellir cynyddu dealltwriaeth o’r hyn sydd o’ch amgylch hyd yn oed wrth ddysgu ychydig eiriau. Gall deall enwau strydoedd a llefydd yn eich ardal, a’r rhesymau drostynt fod yn hynod ddiddorol a gall hyn agor drysau newydd.
Cyfle i brofi a byw dau ddiwylliant gwahanol, dau fyd o brofiadau. Gall helpu pobl i gryfhau’r ymdeimlad o ‘berthyn’ i Gymru.
Dengys ymchwil bod gweithwyr â sgiliau dwyieithog yn fwy tebygol o ennill cyflog rhwng 8-10% yn fwy na gweithwyr heb sgiliau dwyieithog.
